About Us

What is Megha Net ?

Megha means 'cloud' in telugu language. Telugu is the language of the state AndhraPradesh in India. It also sounds a little like 'Mega' :-)

Net is refering to network which is connected to the Internet.

Megha Net is an initiative to provide cheap Internet to urban areas in India at a low cost where atleast middle-class people can afford an always-on connection.

Currently the choice of coming to the net for the average Indian person is to visit a browsing center where they can check e-mail and chat with relatives on messenger. Our idea is that we by providing affordable technology can change this to get the common middle-class Indian person on the net. This will help in overall education when they can do information exchange over the net.

We will also provide free web-space to all Megha Net users and hold (not free, but small-fee) courses in how to use the Internet and how to use it for business.

Where to get Megha Net ?

We will start out by providing access in Nellore and in the border-towns. We hope to be able to cover about 30km^2 when we start up. A map of the excact areas covered will be available later when we have negociated the places to put up the backbone locations.

Who are Megha Net ?

Megha Net is founded by Soren Davidsen and Kereena Atmakuri (See this page AndhraPradesh and try to find her city on the Nellore District map :-) ).

We both have a background with computers. I have a university-degree in computer science - and have been working with complex network setups for years, and she has been running an IT educational institute.

Funding for Megha Net ?

Megha Net is based on cheap equipment and low maintenence costs. However, we can always use a helping hand on funding (of any kind, not nessecarily money). You can send an e-mail about funding to http://tanesha.net/pictures/site/myemail.png
