Currently FooFtpd is not in a 'production' nor 'beta' state, but I have still put the page here so everyone can inspect the code and give ideas/comments for what they like of this 'ftp-daemon of tomorrow'.

Features

I have many many ideas for features for this new ftp-daemon, so some these features are only the ones which are already implemented (possibly partially implemented).

• Support for both plain TCP and SSL connections.
• HTTP interface to run site commands from web-forms.
• Virtual Filesystem that doesn't depend on underlaying FS properties.
• Support for many filesystems to be 'mounted' to virtual FS. Eg. Remote-FS, Scrambled-FS or Encrypted-Container-FS.
• Can use JDBC-DB or files to hold all user information.
• IRC bot interface to communicate site-actions to IRC.
• Validation of uploaded files (on-the-fly for .zip/.rar).
• Advanced credit-system, users can have credits attached.
• ACLs for detailed specifying of what users are allowed to do.

There is an excellent other Java FTP server by someone called Super Bon Bon: JAFS, I think this is what FooFtpd is working towards looking like. JMX interface for all the runtime configurables and inside some kind of standard container where we can make use of the normal Java frameworks.
